When the parents are gone, i get to go out and play...

Hey everyone! So sorry I haven't posted in awhile but as my title says my parents were out of town this past week and that means I was able to go out and get crazy. hehe Well not really but you see am an only child and my parents are super strict on me even though I am of age to be an adult. But yeah it was nice to go out and not have a curfew, having friends over and just doing stuff I normally wouldn't be able to do. I took some OOTD's to share with you all, there's only 2 because the other days I kept forgetting to take them. But yeah my parent's are back and im back to being at home trying to fix my life but that's another story.

Ok, so the first night I went out for two of my friends birthdays. We had dinner at a nice Thai food place we have by my house. Then we took some of those super asian pictures they are called Cue pictures here and there like small sticker pictures you take in booths. There really fun to take and then you decorate them with all these random things. Below are two of the many pictures we took, they aren't one's that we decorated really but they are the ones that i liked the best.

Here is a better picture of of my outfit that day.
leather jacket - Target, lace tank - thrifted, skirt - H&M, purple tights and boots - swap meet, necklace - Philippines, hat - DIY

This is my other outfit that I took a picture of it's from Easter. I went to my cousins house because my parent's were out of town, I think it was the first holiday that I wasn't with my parent's and it was really weird to me. But it was ok because I was with some of my family. But yeah I really wanted to dress springy for Easter but it ended up being so cold that day but I tried. If the print of the dress looks familiar to one of the skirts I wore before its because it's the same fabric. My mom made this dress for me using the same fabric, I really hope I learn to sew as good as my mom because I absolutely love this dress my mom made.

sweater and gray tights - Old Navy, belt - target, boots - swap meet, bracelet - Philippines, hat and dress - DIY

So yeah since I'm back im looking forward to catching up with everyone's blogs!!! :)

going back...

Hey everyone, I know it's been awhile since I've posted, I've been staying at my cousins house in the South Bay area to help her take care of her kids while her husbands out of town. It was cool to get out of the house but I had no internet there, well I did but it was if i used my cousins laptop and I didn't want to bother her with using it. But yeah that's pretty much why I haven't posted. I have so much back reading with everyone's blogs, but I will most definitely try to catch up though! :)

So while I was at my cousin's place I didn't really dress up so I didn't really take any outfit photos. But on Friday I went to CSULB's PCN, Cal state long beach is the school i went to and PCN is Pilipino Cultural Night. The Pilipino club always throws one of these shows once every year, it showcases different dances and skits that relate to the pilipino culture. It was really nice seeing a lot of my old friends. The picture below is the only picture I have of my outfit, in the picture is one of my friends that was in the show and another one of my friends I watched the show with. I wish I had a better picture of my headband though, because it's the headband I made with the ribbon that I showed you in a previous thread that I had gotten at the swap meet.

jean jacket and necklace - f21, tunic - H&M, belt and leggins - target, boots - swap meet, headband - DIY

So yeah today I went to church with my parents and I decided to take some OOTD pictures, so I went outside and tried something different with the pictures. I felt so awkward taking these pictures but these were the ones that I kinda liked. hehe But yeah it was funny because my dog was following me and since I was using the self-timer I kept running back and forth and by the time I took these photos my dog was tired from running back and forth so she's just sitting and watching me. hehe

one step at a time...

Hey everyone! So I decided to take a sewing class today that is offered at a community school near my house. I was surprised there were so many people in the class I think there was about 40 of us and about 10 machines, so I'm a little worried about that. But the instructor asked for some people to bring in there sewing machines in and said we were going to have to share machines. I'm just scared that because there is so many people in the class i might not really learn to sew, but ill take it step by step. I'm very excited to learn to sew too because my mom sews, so i really want to be able to sew like her. I can't wait till I start sewing, our first project is an apron. :)

My shoes, dress and sweater are all from Old Navy, so head to toe Old Navy except for the accessories. The belt is from the Gap, necklace thrifted, and earrings from the swap meet.

A good friend is cheaper than therapy...

Hey everyone, It's been a while since I've posted. Did everyone have a great weekend? I hope so! Well, I had a nice weekend with my family and friends. It was nice to see one of my old friends Deborah this weekend, she lives in SF because she's going to fashion school. So it's always great to see her because she's so stylish, she inspires me, plus I love talking to her about everything. She's super awesome she's just one of those friends that you can talk to about anything to and then helps you out with your problems! I was just really happy to see her this weekend while she was down for spring break. I actually had yogurt with her earlier today! Well i wish i took a picture with her today but I didn't bring my camera. But yeah it was nice because I can talk to her about fashion and I actually told her about this blog and she was so supportive. Which made me feel really good to tell someone that was very supportive of it.

This was the outfit that I wore today, I didn't feel like dressing up. It was a pretty warm day today during the day but it was really cold later in the day. So that's why i wore the tights, plus I'm not that comfortable wearing shorts without them. I also had no clean jeans that's why i decided to wear shorts. :p

But yeah what I'm wearing is Old Navy both shirts and tights, vest from Ross, shorts from walmart, boots from swap meet, necklace from forever 21, bracelet from philippines and headband made by me.

Here's a closer picture of the headband I made and another one of my mahjong bracelet.

Happy St. Patrick's Day...

Hey everyone, It's St. Patricks Day! Did everyone wear green? Well I decided to post an OOTD, I went outside today to take my pictures because it was so nice and sunny. But while taking these pictures I almost got stung by a bee because you see the tree behind me there were a bunch of bee's that I didn't notices till after the first shot. The second shot I don't know if you can see but i look a little nervous. hehe But yeah it was really hot again today, I actually even put my fan on in my room today because I was sweating. :p

Shoes and shirt from Old Navy, sweater - Target, skirt- made by mom, necklace - thrifted, bracelets - f21, headband- DIY

This headband is one that I just made recently. If you've followed my blog, I wrote about a Matthew & Melka and how I loved there headbands. One of the headbands I showed was this white headband with a white flower, this is my interpretation of it. I actually really like the way it came out. You can look at the older post here and tell me what you think about my interpretation. But yeah this is the first time I'm posting a close up picture of myself, I think I look really awkward in the picture. hehe But yeah it's the only way I could really show the headband.

Well have a great St. Patrick's Day everyone and be safe!!! :)

Where did spring go....

Hello everyone! It's so hot today in cali, it's in the 80's here! I really don't like hot weather, I was looking forward to spring being warm and cool and not too hot but i guess the weather here decided to skip spring and go straight to summer. Ugh this weather is so weird this weekend the weather was cold and looked like it was going to rain and now it's super hot.

Well how was everyone's weekend? I had a pretty nice weekend. On Saturday I kinda went shopping just a little bit. I was able to go to the swap meet this weekend because it was the first time i got to go in awhile because its been raining the past weekends. I got some fabric and a pair of earring.

Then later that day I went with a few of my friends to try something called the Kogi truck, it's really famous here in LA, it was on the food network. It's kind of like Korean Mexican food served in a taco truck, it was really good. I wish i took pictures of it but my friends and I were so hungry we just ate it right away. But yeah I got the Kogi short rip burrito and there tres leche cake. OMG so good, i can't even explain how yummy it was, it was just full of flavor. I was happy it was by my area and the line wasn't that long. The first time i tried the kogi truck i waited in line for about 2 hours, that's usually how long it takes, that's why i was glad i didn't have to wait that long this time.

Later that night I went to a family party to watch the Manny Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight. It was funny watching the fight with the family because there reactions to things were funny. But as for the fight i thought it was pretty boring, if you watched the fight you know why. But yeah that was cool to hang out with my family and watch the fight.

The next day my cousin came over and brought the niece and nephew over. So i pretty much played with them the whole day. They are such cuties don't you think? But yeah sorry I didn't take any outfit pictures this weekend, i kept forgetting. But I'll take some soon and I'll post those awards people are tagging me in soon too! Have a great week everyone!

Oh happy day...

Hey everyone! I can't believe its the weekend already, it feels like this year is moving so fast! Well yesterday I went to a Open mike night at my school that was in honor of women's HERstory month, It's thrown by an organization that I was part of when I was in college. Their were a lot of really inspiring spoken words and poems that were said plus lots of very talented singers and performers.

headband and shirt from f21, sweater, skirt, tights, belt from Old Navy, books from the swapmeet and bracelet from the philippines
Here's a close up of the bracelet. I was really obsessed with these mahjong bracelets back in the day, I have about 8 of them, and i decided to start wearing them again. But the reason why i really was into them was because in the movie "America's Sweethearts" Julia Roberts is wearing a wooden mahjong bracelet and I feel in love with it. So when I went to the philippines in search of that bracelet, I never found a wooden one but i found a lot like the one above and bought a lot of colors! hehe :)

After the open mike, my friend and I slept at our friends place in LA because we volunteered for million meals for Hati and it was at 8 in the mourning in LA, so it would be a better commute there in the mourning. If you didn't know LA traffic is the worse especially in the mourning.
But yeah it was a really fun experience, I really enjoyed it. It's a beautiful thing to see so many individuals working together for one goal. It really made this weekend start off in a great way! :) Below is a picture of the bags of food we were packing for the Hati relief and I thought what it said was cute that's why i took a picture of it!

It says, "This food is to be given freely because Jesus loves little children."

I hope you all have a great weekend!!! :)

This is Charice...

Hey everyone! So instead of posting a Pilipino designer I decided to post about Charice, a Pilipino singer that just released a single a new single that I'm really liking right now. I've seen a lot of her interviews and watched shows that they've made about the her life and I decided to share her story because it's one of those stories that I find inspiring.

Charice is a 17 year old girl from the Philippines. She had a really tough live growing up, she was raised by her single mother. She competed in many singing competitions to help support her family. She tried out for a lot of TV shows and was told that she couldn't make it because she didn't have the right look. But her mom believed in her and kept on going to pursue her dream.

One of her fans posted videos of her singing on youtube and she because an internet star. That is when she was contacted by Ellen DeGeneres to perform on her show and then was asked to perform on Oprah's show and from there her career took off.

I know I wrote a quick version of the story, but I think the bottom line that I wanted to get out there was that Charice overcame so many obstacles and kept going even if there were people that doubted her. So never let anyone tell you that you can not do something or tell you that you can not do something because of the way you look, you can do anything you put your mind to! :)

This is Charice's new single "Pyramid" featuring Iyaz. This isn't the official video, she is currently in LA taping the video for the video. I honestly love the song and I heard it on the radio today and was very proud to hear on there! :)

TV round up...

Hey everyone! So since I didn't get to post about things i watched recently because I sick, I thought i would do a little round up about a few shows!

First off, I'm so sad I didn't realize Gossip Girl started this week, I thought it was next week! Yes I am one of those girls that likes GG! But i figured I would be able to watch it online but none of the many differen't places I tried worked and a lot of the accounts got suspended. GRRR! Anyone know where i can watch it???

Well in other T V stuff I finally caught up with Project runway when I was sick in bed. But i liked last weeks challenge . I really loved the necklace Maya made out of keys, I would love to make a less flashy version but I feel the keys woul d be too heavy ar ound my neck! (picture above) Also how the heck did Jay make trash bags look the way they did? (See picture below) He really is one of my favorites, I don't know if I'm bias because he's Pilipino but i really do like his designs! Do any of you watch Project Runway? Who's your favorite so far?

Lastly the Oscars! These were some of my favorite looks from the red carpet, I just think they are absolutely beautiful. Sandra Bullock is just so glamorous in that dress, Rachel Mcadams looks so feminine with the blue floral print, Queen Latifah is just stunning in the dress, it fits her just perfectly and I love the color on her, and lastly Anna kendrick's dress is just beautiful!

One thing about the Oscars that I really loved is how they have a person talk about the best actor and actress nominees that know them. I just love how they started doing that and I really hope they keep doing it because its so personal and it's great hearing what the people say about them. Who's dress did you love? I know a lot of people posted their picks on their blogs.

But yeah that's it for now, I just rented Coco before Chanel and I can't wait to watch it! I've been wanting to watch it forever! :)

wide awake...

Hey everyone! So I started feeling sick again today and I took a nap and now I'm wide awake. I'm going around different blogs trying to catch up and be inspired because a lot of the blogs I follow inspire me in so many different ways. But I was thinking when you write a blog and openly post things to the public you are letting people into your lives. I don't know about you but I always feel like doing this your putting yourself out there to be judged. But the fact that we put our self out there, is a huge thing that I think makes all the bloggers I follow strong and wonderful individuals and I think you all deserve a round of applause!!! *round of applause*

Thinking about the whole judging thing reminded me of this poem that I really loved when I was in high school. It was from that book "Chicken Soup for a Teenage Soul" the journal edition, I used to love those chicken soup books.

Please Don't Judge Me
by Samantha Higgins

Please don't judge me by my face,
by my religion,
or my race.
Please don't laugh at what I wear,
or how I look or do my hair.
Please look alittle deeper,
way down deep inside.
And although you may not see it,
I have a lot to hide.
Behind my clothes the secrets lie,
behind my smile, I softly cry.
please look a little deeper,
and maybe you will see.
The lonely little girl,
that lives inside of me.
Please listen carefully to her,
she'll show that she is insecure.
Please try to be her friend,
and show her that you care.
Please just get to know her,
and maybe you will see,
That if you just look deep enough,
you'll find the real me.

Sorry for my ramblings, I think I'm sleepy but I very much wide awake, if that makes any sense. :p

Do you ever feel that way when your posting something or in real life, that people might judge you a certain way? If you do how do you over come that feeling?

Hello...I'm back...

Hello to all my blogger friends, I hope everyone had a great weekend! Well I know I didn't blog this whole weekend and it's because I was really sick, I got the flu bug! It sucks because I actually got my flu shot and my H1N1 shot!!! I was really sad because I didn't end up going to San Diego for my friends birthday, I had to go with my aunt and mom to Sacramento, but I still ended up just in the room sleeping and watching movies because I was so sick. :( Oh well I'm feeling a lot better now, that's all that matters.

Well I guess I kinda fail the Spring Capsule Challenge because I didn't dress up 5 days in a row because i was in pj's the whole weekend! But yeah I decided to wear my day 5 outfit today, I covered my face because I'm still getting over the flu and I hate the way I looks so I put stickers on my face. I think I'm just having one of those ugh day's, but yeah i did end up wearing my jean jacket with this outfit, I just didn't take a picture with it on.

What I wore is the dress slip from Ross, yellow sweater and necklace from Forever 21, earings and boots from the swap meet, and bracelet from the Philippines.

edit: here's a wrap up of my 5 Spring Capsule Outfits

But I got some much to catch up with, hopefully I'll be able to do everything I need to do today. Have a great week everyone!!! :)

Spring Capsule Challenge: Day 4

Hey everyone! So I've been feeling kinda sick today so I only wore this outfit for like 2 hours then went back in my PJ's and went to sleep. I really hope I don't get any worse because I'm suppose to go to San Diego this weekend for one of my good friend's birthdays (BMM where you at i might be visiting your area! hehe) But yeah im feeling a little better but I have this really bad headache, that's why I'm trying to make this short.

So yeah, this is my outfit for today, I was originally suppose to wear the shorts and the white beater and black sweater but i thought it would add something extra to use the dress for a little something extra. Then I decided to add the red belt to give it some color and this is the final result. Sorry the pictures are bad, my dad wasn't home today to I had to go back to using self-timer.

But yeah pretty much wore white beater and black sweater from Old Navy, dress from Ross, shorts from walmart, Belt from target, earrings and boots from swap meet.

I'll try signing on later tonight to go on and try visit everyone's blog and reply to some of your comments! But now I think im going back to bed!

Spring Capsule Challenge: Day 3

Hey everyone! So here is the 3rd outfit for the spring capsule challenge. I actually ended up wearing tights later on in the day because i got really cold. I decided to wear the beret with the skirt becuase libys11 from Animated Confessions suggested I wear it with my floral skirt, thanks I think it looks great plus it helped me keep warm. It was a lot cooler today then it's been the past two days, makes me worried because i didn't count a pair of jeans in my capsule and it's suppose to rain tomorrow.

I wore the skirt made by my mom, white beater from Old Navy, Jean jacket and necklace from forever 21, and beret and wedges from target.

As for today I had lunch with one of my close friends and I happen to tell her that I had a blog because my friend has a blog as well but she's a writer and I'm not really a writer. But she was asking me for the link after and I didn't really want to give it to her because I started this for me and its kinda of a place for me to express certain things on my mind. I don't know if I'm thinking to much about it but for most of you do your friends and family read your blogs? or Is it kind of a secret thing for yourself?

Philippine Designer: Mich Dulce...

Hello everyone! So I was on facebook earlier and someone posted a link about Mich Dulce, a Pilipino designer, winning the International Young Fashion Entrepreneur Award (IYFE) at London fashion week. I have really loved Mich Dulce's style for awhile now, she was on a show called Pinoy Big Brother which is actually one of my favorite shows. I liked her because she was so stylish and she wasn't sickly thin like so many other people you see in Philippine television. But yeah I am very proud of her and I just thought I would share with you all.

*picture from stylebible.ph*
The picture above are the different hats that Mich designed at her hat exhibit. In all of her designs she uses Philippines local materials. I just love her hat designs, especially the one that she is wearing in the top picture. I love the way she displayed the hats in the exhibit as well, it's suppose to be like an alien tree with alien pods. I just love her and her style! :)

"...ever since I started designing, one of my biggest passions has been showcasing the Filipino as a creative instead of just a supplier or subcontractor. It has been a struggle to knock on peoples doors trying to get them to pay attention to me" Mich Dulce

You can read more about her winning the award in the link below! :)

Spring Capsule Challenge: Day 2

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is having a great start of the week! Well today is the second day of the challenge and it has made getting ready a lot easier because your limited on items to wear. I love accessorizing so this is hard because I love to accessorize, for example i really wanted to wear a headband and a few bracelets I have but it wasn't on the list. hehe But yeah here is my outfit for today, yay for my dad having the week off and is able to take my picture.

On a side not it was my is funny because when i told him to take my picture again he asked me if it was for my facebook and i just agreed and said it was. hehe It's funny because my dad doesn't really know what facebook is he just hears my mom and I talk about it sometimes.

I wore the yellow sweater and necklace from forever 21, Old Navy black sweater, shorts from Walmart, boots and earrings from the swap meet, will some tights because it was windy and cold.

BTW these are actually my first pair of shorts I've owned since forever, I got them 2 weeks ago because I told myself not to feel embarrassed wearing shorts. I didn't like wearing shorts because I never felt comfortable wearing them, but i think the tights helped me a bit to feel more comfortable in them :)

Spring Capule Challenge: Day 1...

So here is my first outfit for the Spring Capsule Challenge. I was happy that it was nice and sunny today but I know it's suppose to rain again sometime this week. But for now I was able to wear the outfit without any stockings/tights on and yay for my dad taking these pictures. Sorry my hair is still wet in the picture, I was in a hurry this mourning.

I wore...Polka dot dress with Slip from Ross, jean jacket from faith 21, red belt and white beret from target, braclet from the Philippines, hoop earrings and boots from swap meet.

Spring Capsule Challenge...

Hey everyone! So its the start of the spring capsule challenge hosted by The Small Fabric of My Life and it took me awhile to figure out what pieces to use for the challenge. It's so hard to pick only 10 pieces and 5 accessories, especially for someone like me who loves accessories and layers. Well these are the pieces what I decided on...

  1. Polka dot dress, I counted the slip inside the dress as another piece because I'm going to use it with different pieces for the challenge. (Ross)
  2. White beater (Old Navy)
  3. mustard yellow sweater shirt (Forever 21)
  4. Black sweater (Old Navy)
  5. Jean Jacket (Faith 21)
  6. Shorts (Walmart)
  7. Flower skirt (made by my mom)
  8. Brown boots (swap meet)
  9. black wedges (target)

Accessories
  1. White baret - target
  2. Red Belt - target
  3. hoop earings - swap meet
  4. necklace - forever 21
  5. bracelet - philippines
I'll post my outfit that I'm wearing today later one.
